Medical Coding

Medical coding is necessary for the billing of Medical Plans. The coding is to translate the terminology written by the doctor or health provider into a universal language. The purpose of the coding is to ensure the confidentiality of patients’ medical information, speed up the medical billing process and facilitate the payment of health services.

The Medical Biller or encoder assigns the digits that can be of letters and / or numbers. These represent diagnoses, procedures, treatments, place of service, types of services, health condition of the patient and modifiers of medical procedures. This is a complex activity and should have appropriate training in coding manuals such as the ICD-10-CM, the CPT and the HCPCS. The ICD10 contains the diagnostics while the CPT has the procedures and services.
